At the Installation Banquet held on 26th October in Goldsmiths’ Hall, the Master Simon Underwood presented the
Worshipful Company of Arbitrators Award for 13 Company Adult Instructor of the Year 2023
to Sergeant Instructor Benjamin Powell.
Citation:
Over the past year, Sergeant Powell has consistently showcased unwavering dedication to the ACF by actively supporting multiple initiatives within the Company and the wider South West London community, in addition to his primary role as an instructor at 136 Detachment. Notably, he has continued to volunteer his time and expertise to bolster the efforts of the 3 Star cadre, while also lending his valuable support to 132 Detachment over the course of the year to enable the detachment to open.
Sergeant Powell stands out as one of the dependable staff members who can be counted on, seizing every opportunity to contribute to the development of cadets and his own personal growth. He tirelessly invests his skills and knowledge for the betterment of both himself and, consequently, his Detachment. He is now confident to lead on activities and events, owning all of the administration and paperwork for events and is running the Junior Cadet Instructors Cadre at the end of the month for 30plus cadets for a full weekend. He embodies all of our Values and Standards, his commitment to the ACF and, more specifically, to 13 Company has remained consistent since our return to parading.
